Reduced structural thickness of wireless devices requires component integration wherever possible. The first step in antenna integration is the speaker module. The conflicting requirements of smaller volume and maintained performance can be addressed by re-using air cavities linked to antenna ground distance for high-quality acoustics. Known as a solutions provider, Laird Technologies closely collaborates with customers to provide market-leading speaker box solutions. Through this co-development of antenna and acoustic systems, both excellent RF and acoustic performance is achieved. Laird Technologies possesses specialized design tools, including an acoustic anechoic chamber, that contribute to developing solutions featuring either one or two speakers integrated with cellular and/or complementary antennas.

Combined with Laird Technologies’ volume production experience, each design is optimized for the lowest total cost. Because both acoustic and RF performance is critical to the overall functionality of mobile devices, the company offers unique, 100% in-line production testing for both RF and acoustics.
