Options

Operator vigilance device
The operator vigilance device can be selected via the transmitter software. It is an equivalent to the vigilance control system installed on the locomotive.

Unless the operator does not carry out actions on the transmitter at specific intervals of time (max. 30 seconds plus 7 seconds warning time) it is assumed that the operator is no longer controlling the locomotive with the necessary attention. In this case, the locomotive is brought to an immediate standstill by a rapid braking.

Feedback of engine status data
In addition to transmission of control signals from the transmitter to the receiver, data can also be transmitted from the locomotive back to the transmitter.

This can be e.g. speed of the locomotive, brake pressure, the set direction of travel or fault messages which is reported to the transmitter and can be displayed on a LCD.

LEDs and/or LCD show the operatro the needed information, at this the display of data can be customized individually. Up to three lines with 3x12 characters are displayed on the graphic-enabled LCD.

External transmitter antenna
External antennas can be required when the portable transmitter is operated at a fixed place, e.g. inside a control room of a loading station.

The transmitter can be designed in a way that the receiving signal is automatically switched from internal to external antenna when the transmitter is put in the cradle for the fixed operation.

TransLoop
This feature is based on most modern RFID- technology. External control commands can be transferred safely and contactless into the transmitter without the need for a switch or mechanical connector.

LED-flash lights
2 sets of 5 white and very bright LEDs can be mounted onto the transmitter front. A warning signal is generated by flashing these LEDs in a fast and alternate mode. This supports the shunting process with pushed trains especially at night operations by alerting people in the vicinity of an approaching pushed train.

Throttle / brake counter
The throttle / bake counter is a software function of the transmitter which allows a simple adaptation of time-depending to position depending throttle and brake commands.

Switch counter
The switch counter is a memory device, developed for transmitter and receiver of the TH-EC/LO. It allows counting and storing of numbers of cycles of the switches of the transmitter as well as the output relays of the receiver. A LED indicates to the operator when the life cycle limit of a switch has been reached. Simultaneously the information (limit reached) will be transmitted to the receiver from where it is transferred to the diagnostic memory circuit of the locomotive.

This is part of an optimum preventative maintenance program and reduces annual service costs by up to 50%.

Multiple transmitter operation (Pitch and Catch)
In addition to the normal 1 to 1 alignment between the transmitter and receiver, the receiver can also be controlled alternately by two different transmitters. For this purpose, each transmitter features a request and a release button to get control over the locomotive or for releasing the locomotive to pass the control to a second operator.

At any given time the locomotive can only be controlled by one operator. If one transmitter has already control over the locomotive, any request sent by the second transmitter is ignored and does not have any effect. The second transmitter is only able to control the locomotive after the first transmitter has released control over the locomotive.

This feature allows sharing the control over the locomotive, e.g. from a fixed transmitter at a loading station to a portable transmitter of an operator working in the yard.

Intrinsically safe
In accordance with the ATEX directive II 2G EEx ib IIC T4 the transmitters of the TH-EC/LO series can be manufactured for the use in hazardous zones with explosive atmospheres, category 2, zone 1
